Hope. Gratitude. Acceptance.

We try to offer as much information as possible to the people who seek us, because we understand that trusting your well-being to others is not an easy decision to make. For this reason, we have strived for an open and transparent intake and admission process and answer all the questions that are made.

Yet, there is nothing like hearing from someone who has taken the same journey. Someone who may have felt exactly the same doubts, the same fears and hopes.

The first ambassadors of VillaRamadas – men and women who have not only successfully completed treatment with us but have gone on to live the lives we had wished for them – have generously open their hearts and shared part of their experience so that others may feel more secure when starting on the same path they have already walked.

Below we leave you the story of Tamara van der Geld.

Lista de Conteúdos

1. TAMARA VAN DER GELD

Tamara completed a treatment for addiction with VillaRamadas. She showed a rare level of honesty and openness that allowed her to make significant changes in her life. Even though recovery is not an easy road, Tamara’s self-awareness and willingness to ask for help made her stay on track as she struggled with difficulties many would have caved to. She remains positive and motivated to work on herself and keep moving forward. We are here to support her as she continues her journey.

2. ADDICTION & DEPRESSION

Depression is the most common comorbidity in the people who seek our treatment for addiction. Considering the consequences that addiction has on different areas of life (e.g., family, work), it is not surprising that many individuals who struggle with it end up developing a depressive disorder. Unfortunately, depressive symptomatology only tends to aggravate the addictive behaviors, since many assume the function of an emotional regulation strategy (i.e., they help reduce or avoid negative emotions or promote positive ones). When someone who seeks treatment presents other complaints in combination with their addiction, they are usually advised to do a combined treatment for dual disorders. This is important because if one of the problems is not address, it could impact the long-term recovery of that patient.
